Leaving Home
It has been a while since I’ve chronicled a trip in word and image. Parts of this last one—from April 21st to June 4th—were extraordinary, wonderous and unexpectedly wonderful.
I’ve been too occupied with writing other thigs for the past few years, that I’ve let travel writing go by the wayside. Writing, like traveling, deepens my life, and writing about my travels gives them new meaning. Sometimes, it even allows me to live these journeys over again, minus the aggravation. I wanted to set down on paper all that I had seen out there, all my encounters with the world and its people. I don’t want my travels to evaporate.Come with me for the next two weeks as we travel from Mexico City to Brazil, across the Atlantic to South Africa and into the Okavengo Delta of Botswana, then onwards to Zimbabwe, Zambia, and a 6,000 mile journey up the west coast of Africa to Barcelona. The sites are “exotic.” Hopefully, the image—formed in language and photo—bring you to these magical places.
