We are off today on a two-week Panama Canal Cruise—a trip that’s been months in the planning.
Glenda and I arrived late Wednesday evening on an easy direct flight from Montreal to LA via Air Canada and woke up today, Thanksgiving Day, to clear skies and 75 degrees. But the mood is dark and I really don’t want to do this. At 2:30 this afternoon, while I was sitting on a tour bus for a tour of Hollywood and Beverly Hills, Steve called to tell me that our beautiful and beloved Bob the cat died—suddenly, of an apparent heart attack.
A pall has been cast and it will take a long time for it to lift. I need to be home to do this with Steve and it’s hard being away. What horrible timing, especially after I’d been home for the past seven months recovering from surgery.
But here we go, and this is how I’ll spend the next two weeks.
We will bury Bob together when I get home.
